How to know if your Explore is on recall list?

HI recently bought a 98 XLT, love it! Was wondering if there is a way to find out if it is subject to recall and/or if it's been done. Thanx in advance.

I just bought one too, and I brought it to the dealer. They ran the VIN # for free and said no outstanding recalls on mine.

Look under the hood by the master cylinder. If you see an additional harness with a fuse in line with the brake switch, the recall has been done.

What recall are you referring to? I just got an Explorer myself and don't know much about them yet...

It will show recalls if you run the vin on the Ford Etis site. I don't know how far back it will go, year model speaking. Click on the "Vehicle' tab.
