2002 Explorer XLS
I have a 2002 Explorer XLS 5 speed. The rear diff is bad and needs to be replaced. how do i know what "ratio" or whatever is the correct one when looking at new diffs to buy. and are all 2002 diffs the same? (assuming not 4x4). i have seen some on ebay but dont know for sure if they will work for me, one in particular showed the part # which was V 671 J 050270758D 3.73

all help is appreciated.

Look on your drivers side door. There is a sticker there that will list your rear end ratio, among other things.

Dave is right, that you need to look at the label on the drivers side door to find out what axle code you have, then go to this site and it will tell you what the code is.

What does OPEN mean in the above listings?

based on that info and my above part # do you think this part will work for me?

Is your truck 2X4 or 4X4?
