94 Explorer xlt base
So here's the story we got a 94 explorer xlt around 6 months ago from a guy down in Colorado very nice truck built up an everything. But on further inspection we found out that the driver seat didn't function fully it didn't lock into place. Eventhough I am and still am on the fence about getting rid of the ltd I decide to rip the seat out and put in the xlt. this is a write up on how to wire it up to function without the memory function.

Step #1 find your power you will need this to power your seat's so you can actually use them okay.

Step #2 Detach the frame and motor from the seat it self 4 bolts on each corner makes it a hell of a lot easier to work with.

Step #3 Getting rid of stuff you do not need.

This Whole wiring except for the wires clipped below more to come on those are trash you do not need these unless you want to use the memory function and or heated function my pad was long replaced so bye bye

Step # 4 Get rid of more stuff you don't need
There is a black box that is made by Motorola that the two gray plugs plug into go ahead and throw it in the trash the only thing you will need to keep is the motors connected to the frame and the pump for the lumbar support.

Step #5 Wiring ( Which Colors go were). P.S. if you can't do wiring you shouldn't be doing this mod
This is very simple to do, all the colors of the motor harness and the seat harness are the same the only thing different is the gauge of wire. The only different colored wires is the large red/blue will go to the light green/white and black. Here is some pictures of what it should looks like.

Step #6 Reassemble and try it out!!!!!! Make sure you got a 15amp fuse wherever you hooked the man harness up at and all functions should work as they where. So what are you waiting for.

well don so far!
You should wrap those butt splice connectors, you have some exposed wire and that can cause a short!

They are in a wire lum I took those pictures before we did thinking of putting arrows and everything it looks nice and factory.

Good job, the power seats are relatively easy to swap, or retrofit in 1992+ Explorers into the final 2nd gen bodies. The main wires work for all of them, and like you found out, the memory seat tracks can be run with just the normal wires.

I learned that you can swap the seat tracks left to right, and the seat motor sets as well. That means you can swap a right seat track to the left side, and also the memory seat motor set(unique to the Limited models), those will go into any seat track of that type. So I have a NOS memory seat track I plan to put in my 98 Limited project, and swap the old left seat track to the right side. I will just have to wire in a new memory seat switch to the door panel, and connect it to the same two unique wires of the Limited(one to the GEM module(neutral safety circuit), and one extra power wire).

BTW, did you save the memory seat module, as not using it any more in the Limited? Save those for others to use. I have one spare I'm sure.

Yes we saved it still working fine so we kept it.
