Warning! What I am about to tell you your welcome to do at your own risk. I'm not responsible for you not noticing that your car is suddenly pulling one way and that your tire may be low because your to lazy and dumb to notice it without a stupid light on your dash.

Now, as some of you may know I recently put 17" Mustang rims on my wife's 2006 Explorer. However without the TMPS sensors in the new wheels, every time you start the car it screams at you, or sometimes when your driving. Very annoying to say the least. So how do you say goodbye to this while running any tire or wheel you want? And if you off road be able to air down with no warning light. You trick it!:D

I pulled the TMPS sensors out of the old wheels, bought a 12" piece of schedule 40 black PVC pipe and a couple of caps. Put the TMPS inside, and a valve stem, them seal it up with pipe glue, (or whatever the stuff is called.) and pressurize it to 30-40 psi. Throw it under the cargo floor and WALA! TMPS light goes off and it thinks every thing is kosher:D

I plan to make a warning sticker for the tube so later on some day they don't think it's a pipe bomb or something...LOL

Ingenious!

I brought this idea up a few weeks ago on another RBV site and was told that Ford wheel sensors basically "fall asleep" when they stay stationary for too long. The way they "wake up" is from the rotation of the wheels. I've never tried it, but I hope it works for you.

It' working right now in my'06...So that's BS.. Some newer one that could be true ...maybe.

I plan to make a label like this...:D

Nah, there is no mechanism in them to sense rotation. they are just a variable load cell and a diaphragm.

Why not put all 4 on the same tube?

ha ha

I really like the idea but did you know the bands to put the sensor on the wheels are only about $15 each from Ford? Did the new mustang wheels even have bands or sensors on them when you got them?

Ah, for whatever reason, when I read that I thought you only put one in it. Fair enough, carry on.

The guy had them taken out for his new wheels. Plus that's $60+ tax for mounting new bands, plus another $80+ tax for new bands. So I could spend $140+ tax. Or $8 bucks for some PVC. What would you do?
