How to tell which rear end you have?

So I'm hoping to get a hitch put on my 2001 explorer (which is a whole nother issue with not being able to find a hitch that will fit with a full size spare and wiring harness) but there is a 1000 lbs towing capacity difference between the 3.55 rear and the 3.93/4.10 rear.

How can i tell which one my 2001 XLT has?

There should be a tag bolted to the rear end cover that has the rear end info on it.

I think you mean 3.73/4.10.

There is also a sticker on the driver side front door that gives an axle code if the tag is missing of the axle itself.
