I know this should be obvious but, as I've said before, I'm dain bramaged.

I got a front license plate frame for my 2000 bumper and it installs via two pop rivets. But I can't figger out how to use them thangs.

Would somebody please tell this idiot how to use the pop rivets to install the license plate holder. (Sarcastic responses are allowed (expected) as well)

Thanks,

I would think the pop rivet gun would have some sort of instructions with it?

I think the lack of a rivet gun may be the problem here to begin with.

PS
You need a rivet gun to put them in with.

I was trying to help him save face... :D

Then his responce could've been... OH.... Let me go get the guns case ERRRRRRR (As he drives to the store to get it)....

LOL

These are little plastic thingys. i.e. no rivet gun. They look like a plastic nail with a hollow center that has a plastic rod that slides down the center.

Obviously the rod somehow "pops" out the sides of the "rivet" so that it holds the frame into the bumper but I can't figure out how it works.

Anyone?

Pop rivits come in various diameters and lengths; be sure to get the right size for the job. Also, they come in various materuals.

Practice on some scrap before you do one for keeps.

Goos luck....

You need the gun...Drill the hole, insert the rivet, squeeze the handle and the gun does the rest....The pointed end goes inside the gun, the shank end and round head go inside the hole. Drill your hole the same size as the rivet. If the hole is to big, the head won't "snap" off and the rivet will be loose.
Good Luck....

See now Gimp's thinking like I am! (I'm sorry for you Gimp:D )

I've used pop rivets (or plastic anchors if you prefer)before and you just smack in the tab thingy which spreads the rivet and voila' it's stuck. But this one's different somehow and I can't figger out how. It almost seems like you're supposed to pull the tab instead of smack it, but that pulls the whole rivet out. When I smack in the tab thingy in, it just squirts out the other side and the rivet doesn't spread out like it's supposed to.

Duh?

The DAY AFTER I ripped off my front plate and holder, I got popped for "no front plate". I had to go to Ford and buy two of those rivets to re-install the plate holder.

I used the 1/4" rivet collar, stuffed them into the old holes and they worked like regular pop rivets - the plastic part in the middle breaks off.

Huh?

What is a 1/4" rivet collar?

The only pop-rivets I've used you push the center thing in to make them "pop" out. These don't seem to work that way. Could you explain how the f(*$*&g things work. Thanks,

[Same cop problem here and I have to get it signed off ASAP]

Take a ride down to Sears or Home depot and ask the tool guys to show you a pop rietor and how it works. They should be glad to help; there is nothing like hands on....

Buy the tool

Like al says above, go to Sears, you need a pop rivet gun. They are like $20. Most have inserts for 3/16 and 1/4 inch rivets.
