Sorry I havent been posting that much anymore, my brother now owns my explorer. He recently baught four 12 volt auxilery lights, there is not wiring instructions included.

Basically he has them on a light bar. I know I have to run a relay, my quesiton is what rating relay should we use and with what gauge wire?

thanks in advance

What is the wattage of each of the lights? most are 55 watts for a total of 220 watts but some are 100watt lights (400 watts total). To be safe, you should get a 30 amp relay for 55 watt lights but you may need a 50 amp relay or two 30 amp relays if the lights are 100 watts each. I wouldn't use smaller than 14 gauge to supply the power to the lights

there is a sticky in the 'performance lighting' forum with great info and write ups on safe effective ways to wire up the lights with relays. its a good read.
