On my 98 Sport, there is no open spaces to pull my positive wire (8 gauge for amp) through the firewall. Did any of you guys drill your own hole or did you run it down under neath the frame?

I ran mine under the frame and i believe there was a gromet under the drivers seat if i remember right.

I have a 98...there are plenty of areas...you just have to know where to look.

You can cut a small slice in the big boot that the shifter cable goes through...its beneath the brake booster

that's what i did i but a lil super glue around it to keep it from ripping but idk if you really need to do that.

Use black RTV to permanently seal any holes or seams. I like Ultra Black, and Ultra gray, and Ultra Copper. They work well for exterior house work also.

If your running wire smaller than 4 gauge then i would just cut into the boot that the hood release goes through.

If your running 4 gauge or larger then drill a hole in the firewall underneath the break booster next to the large wiring harness and put in a rubber grommet.

But i'm with ford freak, if you'r running a single run of 0 gauge, then get one of those bushings, they're perfect.

When I installed my alarm, I needed to run a pair of wires into the engine compartment and took the opportunity to tidy up the wiring from an earlier mod. I routed the wires through grommets installed in holes drilled through the firewall above the factory bulkhead connector next to the brake booster.

While I was at it, I added some extra holes/grommets in various sizes for future mods and plugged them temporarily with bolts. These have been very handy over the past couple of years and I now have wires running through 4 of the 5 holes.

Here is a picture of the grommets in my 03 Ranger which is similar to a 2nd generation Explorer under the hood. To make room for the drill motor, the underhood electrical distribution box was unbolted and moved to the side. There is a large wire bundle on the interior side that may need to be repositioned out of harm's way while drilling.

I have some 3/4" snap bushings that fit my 1/0 cable perfectly. Now, if I could just "un-lazy" enough time to actually install the stuff :(

I also have 50 feet of their Kolossus Kable (1/0) for my power runs. Overkill, but I keep extra on hand just to play.

This is one heck of a coincidence...You're from the Centralia area??? I was looking at your Car Domain gallery. I'm from Whitehall. Did you ever go lookin around the mines up there? I know quite a few people from that area.

i ran mine through the boot that hold the hood release, i think. i just cut a small hole in it, and pulled it through. simple
