- 2004 Ford Explorer XLT
I just want to say howdy and thanks for making a great site! My name is Dave. My first Explorer used to be a Mineral Gray 2002 4x4 XLT with a 4.6 engine and only 65K miles on her. Bought it for $10250 just over a year ago with 56K on the odo and 6 months of Ford ESP warranty remaining. It was totaled in a rollover a couple of weeks ago. My lovely wife of 31 years was driving and thankfully walked away with only minor cuts and bruises. It started fishtailing on a freshly resurfaced gravel road a couple miles from our place east of Cheyenne and went off into the barrow ditch. Durn thing went 4 complete turns before coming to rest on it's wheels again, she mentioned to me it was kinda like being on fair ride but not nearly as pleasant due to all the broken glass from the drivers window n windield swirling about the cab. She's one tough little cookie for sure n for certain! Got just a tad upset with me for calling her "Crash Bandicoot". Insurance company gave me a check for $11885 on the settlement. Found a super nice Black 2004 4x4 XLT with 4.6 and only 62K on the odo for $10,429 out the door down in Boulder, Colorado. The 2004 has the adjustable pedals (my wife is all of 5 foot tall and loves this option BTW), running boards, front side curtain airbags, fog lights, and a third row seat (my 4 year old grandson loves this option) Plan to keep the shiny side up n dirty side down on this rig.
