Anyone have the M8 and using with SYNC?

I have a chance to upgrade from the Iphone and just wondering if texing works with the M8. That would be the only reason i'd upgrade.

Thanks

Hey roamingphantom,

All of the other HTC One phones do support texting on MFT; I'd say the M8 shouldn't be any different. I think your best bet would be to see if your provider will allow you to test it in your Explorer before purchasing. :)

I have the M8 and it pairs with no issue. Phone calls works fine and was able to receive text and Sync reads it. The only issue I have is regarding phone book, it does not download and adding/sending individual contact does not work as well, although I can see Call history. I have tried, un-pairing and repairing but no luck.

I think I have tried creating a Group already, but I will try again. Also, prior to HTC One M8 I am using Nexus 5 and it also has problem with the phone book.

Daverns,

Can you send txt replies through sync also?

Thanks

I have not tried replying to a text yet, but I have tried creating and sending from Sync. I will try to reply to a text tonight and will see if it works.

Do any of the HTC phones allow you to reply to a text through MFT?

My One (M7) works with all aspects,

I tried this last night and I was able to reply to a text.

I'll do some more digging on my side too. Let me know if that works though.

Rebecca,
I have several groups created already and still no luck. I tried the option of Adding contact from phone, and it shows it transferred all my contacts, I clicked on Ok and tried to view the Phonebook and it is still empty.

I also tried cleaning up my contacts, removing duplicates, removing contact names with special characters (e.g. %,&).

Did you find any solution for this?

I'm still trying to find an M8 around here to test it. The only other thing I can think of is the pop-up when you first pair your phone that asks you to accept or decline access to your phonebook. Did that ever come up for you?

It looks like most of them do, Sgt:

Yes, the Allow or not Allow Phonebook access showed up during the pairing and I click on allow. I can also see the Call history with no problem. So the only issue I have is the Phonebook is probably downloading to Sync but not able load into the Sync Phonebook.

Interesting that the same phone, same firmware, but activated on a different carrier can affect MFT functionality. I always thought it was the phone manufacturer that controlled functionality not the carrier so much.

I apologize in advance if these are silly questions, but do you use the "People app," and did you import your contacts from your SIM card to the app?

Since I am using HTC, they call their Contact as People, I don't have any contacts from my SIM card, all of my contacts comes from Google/Gmail.

It may be worth adding 3-5 contacts to your SIM card, then import them to the People list, and re-download your phonebook. If they come through, I'd have to say that pulling them from Google is causing the contacts to not download.

I imported all my contacts from my iphone onto my new M8 and was able to access them through sync easily even voice command works without any issues. Now I need to figure out how to add/remove replies to the set of provided replies

Though this is on an MKX, but should be similar. My M8 syncs/works ok, except that the contact pictures do not show up. I already have it selected to show. Also, sometimes the right instrument cluster screen does not show the contact display (unknown) even they it is shown in the main screen.

My older M7 displayed contact pictures fine.
