I am replacing the o-rings in my AC system today. I was able to remove the high side fitting with the 5/8 pressure release tool. However, the low side will not budge. I have been tugging on it for an hour and it will not release. Can anyone help?

Thoes stupid fittings can be a PIA (pain in the a**). I usually find that sometimes it is necessary to push the fitting together before sliding the release tool into the fitting. Then pull them apart. If that doesen't work the other alternative is to pull the locking spring out using a pick. This will distroy the spring, but they can be replaced.

Thanks!

What kind of tool can I use to destroy the spring? This one is hard to get at because the spring is facing down plus there is all that weird plumbing around the accumulator. I have extra springs and am willing to take that route.

OK, got it. The 3/4 tool was the key to getting it off.

While the system is open, I was going to remove the old oil from the accumulator. However, when I put the suction tube down to the bottom I just pulled foam. Is this where a majority of the oil is?

When I filled the system last summer, I added 11.5oz of pressurized oil to the system. Is it safe to just add R134a and go or should I pure another 11.5 oz into the accumulator?
