Hey dont mean to sound dumb, but the reservoir on the drivers side firewall that you fill with brake fluid is for a hydraulic clutch, right? Anyways, i have to add fluid every couple days, but cant find the leak. I'm fearing that means the cylinder in the clutch is leaking from the seals. I hope someone could either confirm my fear or point me in a different direction. And also, if it is a leaking cylinder, how hard is it to fix and ballpark on what the parts would cost. Oh, by the way, Im talking about a 92 XL 4wd lol. Thanks!

You shouldn't be loosing that much fluid that quickly.

Sounds like it could be at the slave cylinder.

Cost for new slave with new throw-out bearing is ~$80.

However you have to drop the tranny to replace it.

Sooooooooooo, while you are in there, you might as well go the whole nine yards.

New clutch disc, new pressure plate, new pilot bearing, resurface the flywheel, then install your new slave cylinder and throw-out bearing.

Of course, that depends on how many miles are on your current clutch. If you just replaced it, putting new stuff in would be overkill.

Thanks man, appreciate the info. clutch has less than 1000 miles on it so i think im good there!

Just to give my insight. I had the same problem I had to rebuild my tranny and when I put everything back in I decided To replace the clutch while I was at it. Sure enough about two months later I noticed I needed to add some fluid. It got worse and worse untill I was putting it in every day. I pulled the tranny for a second time to find it was the slave cylinder that was leaking. The main problem I had then was getting the clutch bled properly.
Just thought I would share!
Matt
