First off, welcome to the site and to the Sport Trac! Of course they're worth putting money into and there's lots of folks here to help you with that. You'll be emptying your wallet on goodies before you know it!:D

Of course they are, there are tons of things you can do to these truck. I have one of the most unique trucks in South Florida as far as I'm concerned and I love it.

how do they perform with things like mudding or offroading?

also, someone said that i would need different gears if i wanted bigger tires?

There are plenty of guys who take their trucks in the mud. I know I do, the truck could really benefit from a locker, like most trucks.

I have 32" tires on my truck with 3.73 gears and its fine, I can spin them no problem but I also have the benefit of having a manual transmission.

Just do a search around the site and you will find tons of info on these trucks. Check out the show off you sport trac section and you will see many photos of guys with their trucks off road.

what does a locker do?

welcome u got pics of it

When you get into mud or something else that makes a wheels spin then all the power goes to that wheel and no power to the other. A locker or in the case an automatic locker locks the diff so you have power going to both axles 50/50. The few times I've got myself stuck in mud a locker would have prevented that from happening. Heres a little demo of one kind.

Hmm..i see what you're saying, how much would lockers be?

and ill post a picture of it soon!

Can I use the Air Locker on 2wd? mine is manual, thanks!

The Powertrax No-Slip is a good locker for a street-driven vehicle, as I recall they cost about $460. A Detroit Locker is the bad mamma-jamma, costs around $600.

Yes. All Sport Tracs have an 8.8" 31 spline rear axle.

Some lockers have a different part number depending if your truck was originally equipped with a limited-slip rear differential or not.

You can buy an Aussie locker for our trucks for $260 plus shipping and lockrite for about $325 I think it was. Yes, you can certainly put a locker in the diff of your 4x2 it would make all the difference if you want to off road with it. I'm planing on getting the aussie myself, I may order it in the next few days, I just trying to decide if I want to buy a body lift or get the locker first. I really dont need the lift right now but I want to make the truck higher just because it would look cool.

Alright sounds good, do any of you guys have an exhaust system? if you do what kind and how does it sound?

I installed recently a Trush Welded muffle 1 in 1 out, it does sounds but not that bigger as i wanted so I just figure out wish one i will install, is a Flow master series 44 or 40 with 1 in 2 out and put it at the front of the back tires i did that on the thrush does look cool, but if your serious about of roding, I dont know were the guys here put the exhaust tip...

is it just me or does the engine on the sport tracs sound like just a fan?

do a search on youtube for sport trac exhaust.

If you plan to off-road much, depending on your local terrain I would seriously advise getting the Ford Accessories fuel tank skidplate.
