i could use some of leenjen's help, where is he?!?

i would dissagree

the fosgate is probably way to powerful for the 120watt rms door speakers.

its most important to match your rms values

so look for an amp meets one of these

2 channel amp- 120watts rms x 2 at 4 ohms

or 4 channel amp 120 watts x 4 at 2 ohms

i think it would be a big mistake to buy that punch 800....its too much power for the door speakers...

look for some audiobahn amps, they rate by rms values.

i think you can find some good deals still over at www.thezeb.com

i got my 800 watt audiobahn amp,, 560rms for 250.

check it out.

oh, that RF 800.4 isnt 100 x4 @ 4ohm rms? i was under the impression that that was the rms and since the speaker is 120 rms everything would be ok.... so is that first amp i was looking at good (the 400.4) ? because that one is 125 x 4 @ 2ohm. but my speakers arent 2 ohm, so whats the deal

dosent it sound logical to run 100 watts to a 120 watt speaker? how is that overpowering it?

because the fosgate amplifers are underrated.
the 800.4, if it says 100w its probably around 200-220 rms..

i would go with the 400.4 thats probably all you need.

if you get the 800.4 you will be in a sense wasting your money on unneeded power
yes your speakers may not be 2 ohm. they are indeed 4 ohm speakers

but when you run all 4 of them parallel into a 4 channel amp you will get a 2 ohm load.

Actually he'd have to wire the left channel speakers together and then the right channel speakers together (both in parallel) then find an amp that does about 240 watts RMS @ 2 ohms stereo... Are fosgate amps really that underrated? If so I am taking the multimeter to my Audiobahn amps because they must be putting out a whole lot more power than they are rated for.

Yes Fosgate Amps are very underrated and so is there efficeny. Ya check your audiobahn and tell us what is at.

that is a good question i sent him some ****o gauges like 1 1/2 months ago and he told me he was going to put them on in mid july after he got so manual hubs put on the X im not sure if he was going on vacation or sumthin though

Yes, I am going to check them both this afternoon when I get out of work and I will post the results. I was just using their rated output, divided by the voltage they were rated at (12.5) and then multiplying the result by the voltage I was running at (14.3)... That's how I got 2400 watts out of a 2020 watt system...

But today I will use my multimeter and check for sure! I hope it is much higher than I expect :D

For those of you who are curious, if you want to measure your amp's output: Get a multimeter and set it to measure DC voltage. Then connect the test leads in parallel with the speaker leads. Square the voltage displayed on the multimeter and divide that number by the ohm load on your amp. For instance: If the meter reads 15 volts, and you are running the amp with a 4 ohm load, then it is outputting (15*15) / 4 = 56.25 watts.

ok soo, how much rms w do you think the 400.0 would be actually putting into my speakers... i lost you guys when u started talking about volts and stuff (this is my first system) so can anyone recomend me an amp that will actually put out about 100-125 w into my speaker and how to wire them (you were talking about parallels and left channels together and right channels together... im lost)
