OK, So I needed to get a Terminal for one of the sensors on my Intake tube and went to the Local Junkyard to see what I could find. I went through about 6-7 Explorers and never found one. I was about to give up and I saw a single Ranger. Yup, just one in the whole grave yard. I looked at the front (it didn't have a radiator/grille) and saw my connector. I was pumped. It's alittle different then an explorer. One of the slots is off to the side instead of dead center. So...I'll have to work on that. Here's a Picture of those.

I then went over to the Escort section to Investigate a harnees for one of my projects....Here And In a matter of 10 minutes had what I was looking for....It's the white Connector and the Mirror controller to the right I already had. The other two connectors are the ones from above.

Ok, so now you're bored with this thread and wondering why I'm so excited about all this....Not only was it the second time I've been to a junk yard and I actually found stuff, but I also found something else in the Explorer section I forgot to mention. I think I remember someone saying That alot of people want these....So...I found this...

That's why I was excited, I put it on the truck just to see what it looks like and it's awesome. I plan on painting the Words orange or red and cleaning up the Black. I also will do the same with my upper intake lettering to match. All of this for 5 bucks. One dollar was because I forgot to mark a Part I had in my Tool bag when I came in. Oh well. Lata.

Why did they stop using these on explorers? I've got one on my 92 but my moms 93 doesn't...

Also post pics when you get it all cleaned up and painted. I've been meaning to do it to mine and want to see what it will look like.

They still made them, my 98 had one, I think its just people take them off and never bother to put them back on. Mine came with one, but I somehow misplaced it..

Thats strange, because my parents bought theirs new in 1993 and it never came with one.

It has something similar, but it only covers the throttle body and bit of the intake and doesn't say 4.0L EFI

Must not be an LKQ yard. Heck- up here you would have paid over $25 for that stuff. Glad you find your parts!

At the junkyard I goto, they usually don't charge me for small misc items. They pry would charge me for the 4.0 cover. Maybe for the mirror controller. Probably not for the harnesses.

I got a pair of tailgate pivots from a 99 F150 for free. Well, I pitched in $6 in a local school donation box, so $6 total.

Did you have to pay an admission fee, and a core charge fee?

Nope, you walk into the office, Tell them any parts you have in the bag before you go out. They mark them, You go get your stuff. Come back in the office. They check your bag/Box and any parts that aren't marked they charge you for. It seems pretty sensible to me.

What's LKQ? They don't seem to jack up the prices too much. As long as you pull the stuff yourself. They have racks of pulled inventory and they add about 10 bucks to all of that. But....It's not hard to find what your looking for either way.

LKQ is the national chain that is buying up all of the privately held self-served yards across the country. They have a lot of parts listed on eBay too.

BrooklynBay is right- LKQ charges $2.00 to get into the yard just to look, plus newly insane prices for stuff (I paid $35 for a used headlight- not even the markerlights) and they actually add core charges for 95% of what you buy from them. So I started taking stuff back after I replace it just to be an ass and get my core charge back.

Heck- they want $40.00 for a rim. If the tire is on it, you can buy that for $15.00 and if you don't want it, they'll remove it for $10.00 but if you can't "get it off yourself" (the guy actually said thaat to me) "you either need to pay for the tire, or pay us to remove it for you." eBay used to be more expensive than the yards here, it's now a wash, and a lot of stuff you really need to think about just buying new. I remember taking up two wheelbarrows of stuff before I knew they raised the prices, and the guy tallys and says "that'll be $565.00" and I almost passed out! I left two wheelbarrows of parts that I was going to just put on the shelf sitting there and left with two things I needed, and things havent been the same since.

LKQ bought up U-Wrench-It in Holland and Kalamazoo, and they're probably going to me in Lansing next. Where do you go- Shroyers?
