Heres the deal, I know some of you guys got some sweet stuff so help me out. I just bought 97 explorer sport... I see some cables that are still run to the trunk that must have used to be used for a system, but they car has its stock radio now. Now, I drive a lot, so I want some good sound, but not spend a lot.

I found this head unit I like: http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/...w.asp?a=&s=0&g=300&id=morephotos&i=570CDCX927

I have the older version ... well its sorta like that, but it doesnt fold up, in my older explorer now.

I want to get some speakers too... but I had 2 pioneers Im gonna put in the new explorer sport... what other 2 speakers should I get? The ones I have ready for it are 5x7.

I want to have alittle bumpage... so maybe a 12 or so in the rear... I have never had a sub, I dont know what kind of amp I need or anything... so someone just help me out... all I have ever done is install head units. I havent done anything else... I dont want to spend a lot so tell me what to get, I know to steer clear of pyrimid and all that crap.

so I just need to know whats the best head unit for the best price, best sub, and best amp and best 2 speakers.. thanks.

That head unit will be fine. All of your speakers in the explorer are 5x7's. Some of the best speakers I have used are Infinity Kappas, Boston Acoustics, MB Quart, and Memphis. If ya want a little bump, just look in crutchfield. My latest amp was a sony that puts out 150 watts per channel and it was only $200. That may sound expensive, but in the amp world, 300 watts in two channels for $200 is damn cheap. I use Boston Pro series subs, but Audiobahn makes real nice ones, just like kicker, pioneer impp, and cerwin vega. The pioneer impp woofers would be the best bang for your buck. If you have any other questions just ask me. Later

im sure if ya give a budget $$$ youll get all kinds of ideas!!!!

I bought 2 (12") MTX thunder4000 subs today... 2 for $89.99 ... it was a pretty decent price so I got them. What all do I need now? whats the cheapest decent amp I can get? I ordered that head unit I talked about earlier... where can I get a cheap decent box.. i see some on eBay for like $45-55 including shipping, but idont want a ****ty box.

go to a local shop- i got a 3/4 mdf box for 2 12's for $55, but ya definately check out a local shop before going the e-bay route. just my opinion!

Explorer System

Hey man,
I saw a post that you were looking for some speakers and such, for a 97' explorer? I have 2 x 12" Kicker Comp VR's for sale for $150.00 and I also have a Kicker KX400.2 Amp to power the subs for $325.00.
If you are interested in either, then I have the subs alrady boxed up and ready to go.
Just get back with me,
Thanks

even the Jensen 300x2 (I think it was?) amp is decent.. I had it running my old 12" JBL sub, and then my 2-12" Cerwin Vega Stealth subs.. it did a pretty good job powering the 2 subs, considering it's wattage and how much I paid (right around $100 to $150 at Wal-Mart)
