I have 4000$ to blow

As a young and dumb one here at 19 years old, I agree with what has been said above, but also understand why you want to 'invest' (spend) the money on mods for your Explorer. When I was 16, I spent a couple grand on 20s, headlights, taillights and a few simple mods to improve the look of my Explorer. And now, although I could really use that couple grand and wish I could sell my rims right now, lol, I've loved having my modded Explorer over the last few years because it was something that I enjoyed having and driving.

I guess what I would maybe suggest is save and/or invest $2000 of your money, and spend the other $2000 on some fun mods. Enjoy the Explorer and what you've got while you can...you've got many many years to make more money. ;)

if you invest the $2000 right you might have another $4000 in not time

first off i love my explorer but everytime i have to go to advance or order something from rockauto i feel sick because it just another couple of hundred out of my pocket and into the explorer and whats even more depressing is it hardly get driven. yeah replacing ball joints are easy and yes replacing shocks arent that hard but wait till you replace or have a trans rebuilt. i bought my explorer while working at hardee's making i think 7.60 an hour and was broke for the next 3 years because of it. now that income isnt a problem i can put money into it and not struggle but still isnt fun watching your bank account drop because of a suv. my advise if you want to keep the explorer is use 1 grand and buy tires and wheels and i hate to say do a torsion twist and add a leaf or shackles. and put the 3 grand in the bank for major repairs that will happen LET ME REPEAT THEY WILL HAPPEN. then maybe do a body lift and leave it at that.

I have a good job (45k a year) and drive a 94 Explorer. No car payment,no credit cards and money in the bank.Dude,I took the summer off because I can afford to.

Cars come and go,I spent tons of money in the 80's trying to fix up my toys. And no,you can't always make more money you never know what will happen. That's foolishness.

I am sitting on my duff, with $500 a month going out for health and disability insurance and a small student loan payment.$500 a month.....I just spent $1400 fixing my Explorer and I could afford to.Repairs will happen is exactly right.

And all the guys I work with who make the same money are broke, every one of them. One is 70 and he can't retire because he's toy broke.Don't that sound like fun.

So,spend now and still be broke at 70 or millionaire by 45,your choice.:D
