I have a few trani (a4ld?) questions

Ok I'm new at this so I have had a hard time finding the right thread. So heres the deal my 91 xplorer trans went **** up and has been sitting all winter. Well I have some money now and a friend has one in a 94 xplorer. Heres my question will it work? Do I need to make modifications to make it fit? Should I put royal purple trans fluid in to make it last longer this time? What should I do. Any answers would really help.

if both are 2wd then they should work but if one is 4x4 and the other is 2wd then you got a problem
