Is there a "theft" light on the dash and is it blinking rapidly after you try starting the engine?

If you do, try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes then reconnect.

I'm assuming that you are referring to the PATS / oem immobilizer

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the stock 95-01 section. It sounds like a problem with the PATS system as previously suggested. A quick search on this site will show many threads with information if you enter the keyword "PATS" into the search area on the top of the page.

Is your theft light blinking when cranking?
