Hey All. . . . It's me the venerable FORDBOYpete. . . .:us:
In mid August, the 17th to be exact I suffered heat stroke leading to cardiac arrest and a quadruple By-Pass during open heart surgery after I went Code1 and had to be resuscitated by CPR & the "paddles" twice. I was also in a induced cold coma twice for 36 hours total. Somehow, the good Lord willing I was able to get through all that & am now well on my way to a full recovery.
I must admit I am still sore from broken ribs and the cut in my sternum they made. I would advise you all to avoid going through this unless you absolutely must as I did. Rehab is going well and I am recovering more & more everyday but am still probably 4 to 6 months away from 100% and could be 7 to 10 months from my sternun completely healing together. The surgeon said I will be feeling the pain in my chest & ribcage for a long while.
Since I am back home, and apparently have time to spare between rehab & Dr. Visits I can get back on the keyboard & I surely will with more regularity. So See ya on the boards Guys. . . . ;)
And take care of yourselves. Do not put yourselves what I put myself through. It's no fun & very painful & ungodly expensive.

CIAO Y'all:salute:

Holy crap, Pete- I know you dropped off, but didn't know it was for that!

Glad you're doing better!!!

OUch! I've had open heart surgery myself and the sternum heals up nicely and pretty quickly at least in my case. I didn't get any broken ribs (luckily).
It's been almost 10 years since my surgery and I'm still sore on occasion and feel lots of wierd pains but i'm alive and kicking.
You should check out www.mendedhearts.org especially if you need any help or info or just some support.
