... and that's what prompted me to log in under this subforum. I do not like the way they look. Something about the design of the sides looks unfinished. Reminds of of the Hyundai Tiberon. I was a bit disappointed. May have to pass and go with an Edge next.

I haven't seen one on the road yet. I think it's great looking in the dealer lot.

It's very different, but Ford is doing an amazing job of changing with the times. Reminds me of an edge/explorer hybrid.

To me, it looks more like an Edge in the front and a cross between a Saturn Outlook and Chevy Traverse for overall shape. I didn't mind the old Explorer's looks but I do like the new one better. More streamlined does not mean less truck like, it's all perception and what we're use to seeing (ie Trucks = boxy, square, powerful, towing - Cars = curvy, aerodynamic, less powerful, no towing)

Edge 929 Have you received your vehicle yet?, I was working outside the Ford plant
last week and noticed a holding lot with about 2K new explorers in it.Also there were rolls of steel being delivered evry 10 minutes.

My build date is next Thursday (2/3) and the delivery date is the following Monday 2/7 (I'm only in Des Moines). My window sticker was posted online last Friday (1/28). So sometime the week of 2/7 I expect it to be in my driveway.

Which dealer did you get your's from? I just moved to Ohio from West Des Moines in 2010. Got my 2008 Ford Escape at Charles Gabus (missing the free oil changes).

Ha, that's funny. I had all 3 Ford dealerships (Gabus, Dewey and Stivers) playing ball and ended up going with Stivers. Dewey offered me invoice pricing, Gabus offered me invoice and free oil changes for life and Stivers offered invoice, free oil changes and an extra $250 off invoice. Stivers is the smallest of the 3 and I'm guessing had I gone with either of the other 2 I would have had it by now (since I ordered in early September). Victim of dealer allocation. That could be a blessing in disguise though, if recalls are made to earlier units for example.

Happy to see that you should be getting your new ride soon. Not sure if this is correct or not but I thought I saw a post saying that production of the new Ex did not begin until the first week of December. Still waiting for info on mine. Ordered Dec. 20th. The dealership has 3 on order for themselves. First was to be delivered Jan. 10th but still has not arrived.

Nice. Yeah I was looking at all of them as well but Gabus gave me the best price (at the time).

It's funny because I'm getting the car in Indiana and the sales guy who I got the 2011 Explorer from is actually from Boone Iowa. When he saw the Gabus sticker on my car he couldn't believe it. (I think that helped me out in negotiations).

What a small world.

PS after eating chipotle for dinner tonight I miss Pancheros...

Yeah I went to DMACC in Boone while attending Iowa State. I just ate Pancheros for dinner last Thursday night, I could eat there for every meal. We got our first Chipotle last year, in Valley West mall. Eaten there twice, on par with Pancheros but different.

@peter
You know, I heard production was supposed to start November 1st and then I heard December 1st so I wasn't sure which one was right....... until I heard another theory. They DID start building the new Ex on November 1st but all units in that lot were pre-production runs, working the kinks out so to speak. These were all dealer stock of the ones that made it past inspection. December 1st was the "OK to build" for production/retail orders, etc.

Moderator time here folks. This is going into all threads on the '11 Explorer.

I know there are those of you out there that do not like the new Explorer. I'm fine with that and you are entitled to your opinion. HOWEVER I am tired of people bashing the '11 without ever driving one, sitting in one, or in some cases seeing one. If you have experience with one and don't like a feature or how it drives or how it failed you somehow, please post up about it. I've already found stuff I don't like and posted up about it, and I'm sure that there are other features/items that I will find that I don't like either.

If you don't like the fact that Ford called this an Explorer and you feel that the name is tarnished, don't whine here, it won't do any good. You'll just piss people off. Sent a note to Ford and complain to them. If enough people don't like the re-design and tell Ford, maybe they will take that into consideration.

If anyone persists in continued bashing or sniping (as in any other forum on the site), you will become eligible for a vacation from the site of an undetermined length.

Please do not respond to this post saying F-You or Thank You...That's not why it's here. Just read it and continue on.

Thank You.

On Edit..a healthy debate is always welcome on here. Please do not take it as different opinions are not allowed. It's the bashing that needs to stop.
