I am a father of 3 children and married for 17 years. I found this site from google. I am researching about my reverse not working since I am not much of a mechanic.

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed your thread, and moved it into the transmission section. Do you have manual first gear? Do you have a 4WD or a 2WD?

I have a 2WD. I am not sure about a manual 1st gear.

he means can you put it into "1" on the gear shift and pull out..


1st gear and reverse share some component so if your manual 1st gear works (or doesnt) then this will help to narrow things down a bit...

The low/reverse servo in the rear engages the low/reverse band.

I have a 93 Ford Explorer also, 280k miles, i can put into "1" but not into reverse.

What do you guys think?
