I have a '97 Explorer AWD V8. When I go on long trips on the expressway my speeds reach 80mph for extended periods of time. My truck starts making a light vibrating noise and as the miles go on it get louder. Once it sounded like I was going over rumble strips. I pulled the front shaft out and the noise was gone. I replaced the CV joint with a new cheap one and a year later it came back. I like my truck but I can't keep stopping to pull this shaft out. Does anyone else have problems like this?
I've looked at replacing the CV joint with a universal joint but I'm told it may have vibrations.
WTF?!?!
