Thats all...

NOW GET ONE! :)

(Except for the gas mileage after severly romping on it!)

I had a 'kid' pull up to me at a stoplight in a 2Gen XLT. He inched a bit, I inched a bit, he did then I. Finally green and I completely blew him away, it was great. Then he stopped, honked and down the window goes. "What do you got in there man?!?" I told him, then I put a plug in for this site :)

How much and were can i get it? Btw dont kill our allies go after those other guys.

I really don't understand performance chips, how much did your aptin cost. If I put just that in my car will it make it faster (92 Eddie Bauer). How does it work?

An aftermarket computer chip changes the way your engine computer runs the motor. Basically the chip optimizes the timing and fuel curves for more power. Most chips need premium fuel for max benefit, but as you can see the benefits are great for the cash and ease of installation.

I was under the impression that some chips or specific chip modes may be detremental to longterm reliablity of the engine/vehicle.... is this true, or is it because the person driving gets a bit more aggressive with the new-found power.
-----Nate

I do run injector cleaner more often than most, but a well burned chip is not gonna do anything harmful.

glad it worked for you, can't say the same for my truck, I tried getting a chip and it turns out mines unchippable without some mods.. its too much trouble

Well Fox, you do admittedly have the LEMONeer, so :p

yea, this truck really is a mess.. when I tried to remove my pcm I tried unscrewing the nuts from the firewall studs... and the stupid studs came out of the firewall with the nuts... figures.. the thing must be cursed or somethig..

anyone good with exorcisms? lol

rvitek do you have any like 0-60 figures? maybe a dyno? I wouldn't expect the avg person to dyno before and after juts for a chip, but you never know.. and the more I can find out the better..

Dark, check out some of the post regarding John V. from Explorer Express talking about the sohc V6 charger.

He says they got 10.5 seconds to 60 for a 5.0 Explorer and 1/4 in the 18's.....I'm thinking it was your truck they used befoer you bought it......poor, poor Darkfox, never will he know what a nice running 5.0 Explorer/Mounty is capable of;) :p

Your ports we're disabled right? I thought there was a way around this. I know on the 02'+ 4drs you can't chip at all.

I think that Apten is awsome b/c it's based off the Diablo board which is awsome and Mustangs for the most part see better gains usings Diablo Chips.

EDIT- and Dark, check out the new ricer thread...knowing you, you'll very much enjoy it;)

dont know.. its an XDT2.. it was suspected that the ports disabled.. but a substitute PCM (SLL3) wouldn't allow the truck to shift and gave it a 2500 or so stall on the TC.. so I just gave up.. Im going to be shipping the pcm and the xdt2 chip back pretty soon.

That's great rvitek!!! Im glad your having good results.

So what about everyone else, share your Apten chip results.

Are chips easy for a beginner to install or should I not even bother doing it myself?

From what ive read here, they seem pretty simple to install. Like 5 min!

Don

installation is very easy, its a very good amateur mod..

the hardest part is getting the code right and making sure it all works.. at least. .if you have a lemoneer lol, I have talked to a few people, most people say they had no problems installing, I'm just one of the few exceptions.. which there are bound to be

The code is four digits right? How hard is that? :D

Don

well there are possibilities thatthe digits could be wrong.. like.. if you had your pcm reflashed by ford.. or theres also a chance that the service port could be disabled.. if either of these occur the pcm wont accept the chip and steps hafta be taken to correct them, such as enabling the service port or checking the pcm code by hooking it up to a machine. both very easy to do.. so long as you ahve the resources to do it

Ah, i forgot some people were having that problem.
