I messed up :( rebuild or junk it?

Where you located ?? Browsing my local craigslist found a 90 mustang 302 with 84k miles for $250. It was a long block too so by selling or scraping what you dont need youd get a few bucks back. Deals are out there.

Get a couple of books or read up online before you dig into the motor. Label and store everything.

Once helped a friend redo a high mileage 302. Cleaned everything with oven cleaner, pressure washed, honed the cylinders by hand, cleaned again ,put pistons back in with a $77 summit ring and bearing package. He splurged for a new oil pump lol but it was a strong runner until it sold.

i live n goode VA thanks

Ok, buy a beater, for like 300 bucks... drive it like you stole it.
Pull and rebuild the 302 yourself... it isn't that hard as long as you have help and a good manual to go by. That's what I did with the 302 I got for my swap which had 276K on it, runs like a champ now.
So remove the insurance and everything from the explorer, put PLPD on the beater(GEO or something fun(5sp) and good on gas) and let the explorer be down for a couple of months.

Another thing you could do is sell some stuff... like the subs you have... get 100 bucks or more for them.

well to honest i would like something Manuel to begin with... and something with better gas milage... i think when i brake then engine down ill see if can drive my dads 2010 f150 i dont like it a bit it drives like crap, but i dont have money....thanks

Do whatcha gotta do...

Dam kid if you got no money then stop b*&^%$ing and drive the thing ticking or not it still running. But remember it aint no boat so if youi not got no money keep it on safe ground. Off roading is a risky hobbie but when you add peer pressure to do something dumb then the risk of damage doubles. drive it mines been ticking for 50K miles now

I'd say - get rid of the subs/amps - obviously they are doing you no good if you don't drive it.. pull the motor - get dirty.. learn a thing or two.. thats what first cars are for right??

yeah well damn if uve been runin it with a tickin sound for a while i might as well keep drivin it, then when i get the chance brake down the engine when i can....thanks
