Get a hacksaw and cut the pipes past the cats, then run some clamp on pipes right out the back. Drill some holes in the pipes all over. Now that should be loud. hjehehehe
You can look on Truckperformance.com or Summitracing.com ......they have some catback exhaust kits that bolt on. Pretty much anything is going to be louder than stock unless you put resonators or something in it. Seems like there are some differences in the exhaust tone between brands, from what I can tell on reading posts here. Try doing a search on the brand you're interested in on the board here....like "loudest magnaflow" or "loudest flowmaster"
Indeed... it's one thing to be loud due to power, it's another to be loud (read borderline annoying) just to be loud.
Man, I was so dead on the way into work (running a lil late)... came over a hill at ~50mph in a rural 35mph zone and there was a cop off on the grass. I tapped the brakes to get down to ~40, launched the chute out the back etc., and I guess I wasn't going fast enough to bother with, thankfully? I'm so glad he didn't pull out and nab me. *thanks the road G-ds*
I think a couple cars even went by me on that short hill in the other lane before I got to him and DIDN'T FLASH THEIR LIGHTS.
Rat *******s :fire: :mattmoon:
P.S. Most people go 40-50 on that road, nothing but fields on either side of you.
Summit for sure..... so far I found their prices to be one of the lowest.
But if you're looking to gain on performance I would add a K&N cone filter and new set of headers. - that and new intake... but then we're talking about big bucks.
noise wise - straight pipe
otherwise - Dynomax turbo system from Summit Racing
Any of the brands that were mentioned in this thread, i.e., dynomax, flowmaster, magnaflow, borla.....are more free flowing than your factory exhaust. They all will probably allow you to gain pretty much the same amount of horsepower.....which isn't much at all, if that's all you're planning on doing. But it will sound good...so at least you might feel/sound like you have a lot more power .
There are plenty of ways to modify your truck to gain horsepower... but it will never be as good as a 5.0L V8 swap. Put a V8 in it and you won't need anything else. If you'd like your truck to sound like a BIG BOY... replace exhaust... but you'll only get a better sound and a few ponies extra. Sounds to me like you are just looking for a better sound effect... but remember that good looks and nice, deep exhaust won't do much. It's not about looks, It's all about what's underneath, what will make jaws drop.
Like I said already in order to gain a few ponies you should get rid of your stock air box and replace it with a K&N filter... replace your headers and mufler with something better, less restrictive (Borla, Dynomax, Flowmaster). It won't break your bank but will give you what you need for now (until you decide to go 5.0)
