I need help replacing the outside door handle on my 2000 Explorer.

00 explorer broke the door handle does any one have any tips and or instructions on how to fix this thanks!!!

Did you replace the outside handle yet? I did my front door about two weeks ago. Mine broke because the door latch sprung and I had to PULL HARD to open the door.

Remove the inner door panel. Disconnect the linkage going to the handle from the inside. There are two rivets holding the door handle on. Drill these out from the outside. Install the new handle with 1/4 20 bolts and nuts. Connect the linkage and replace the trim panel.

This is fairly easy to do, except it takes three hands though there is only space for one.

If you would like, I can give you more details tomorrow.

take the door panel off disconnect the handle rod inside plastic tab locks it in place.pull up on handle center punch rivets then use a quarter-inch drill bit sharp drill them out. 2 rivets to replace quater -inch big rivet gun turbo-tony
