It uses the speaker wires and converts them to a line-level signal. So you'd tap the speaker wire(s) coming out of the factory head unit into this device, then run RCAs from it to the amp.
I used a PAC OEM-2 in my Budget Bass project. Along with the high/low conversion, it converted the factory Ford 5V remote into a 12V, with turn-on delay.
