I have a 4" Skyjacker class II lift kit for my 1st Gen Explorer (minus the rear leaf springs). The kit arrived in August with the Rear springs back ordered. I found out the other day Skyjacker Discontinued the Rear Leaf Springs :(

So to get my lift out of the box and onto my X I need to get some new Rear Leaf Springs. Obviously I need springs for a 1st Gen X with a 4" height increase, but what else in terms of how springs can be ordered? (materials, spring rate, load ect...)

Basically my rig sees Moderate Off Road action 20% of the time. I am not overly concerned about huge flex, would like the ride to be descent (geared more to handling speed bumps). I was planning on calling Deaver Spring and asking a bunch a questions, but I don't want to feel like a total newbie. So any info would be greatly appreciated. I don't really want to spend over $400....

I already have poly bushings, and Warrior shackles...

See if you can get the 4" ones from superlift.
www.springsnthings.com is another spring shop. Not sure if they could make a 4" spring though. You can call them.

I used Superlifts springs on my explorer. They work well. I got them from a local 4wd shop. They weren't too expensive, I believe something around 250 maybe. But make sure you get the right bushings, I had a time with those. go to Superlifts site and you'll see all these manuals and parts list, look up leaf springs, then look up leaf spring bushings. There will be a kit that you'll need; which mine included the bushings, sleeves and sway bar extentions (it was a rear box kit) But the superlift springs will work on explorers 91-01. Good luck.

Thanks for the responses... The superLift springs were backordered with an expected delivery date in Dec.... I called the Canadian Carrier company and spoke to Tyler... He was a really nice guy.. He said they can make the spings any way I want (which is what I needed help with). Since I don't really tow anything all that often I went with the Flexy spring setup as opposed to a stiffer towing setup. Basically the spring Height is the same for all 4" lift springs, but the "towing" springs use thick leaves like OEM and the flexy springs use more leaves, but they are thinner. Turn around time is about 3 weeks, but I may get them a little earlier because of a preiviously cancelled order.. The springs were about $370 U.S including shipping..

Sorry to hear the superlift springs were back ordered. I got mine the next day. But i'm glad you figured out what you wanted, and it seems like you got a good deal.

Thanks Drew.. I don't know if what I ordered is what I want  but after speaking with the spring guy it seamed to be the setup I was looking for. I wanted a spring where I can cruise over speed bumps like they weren't even there... Well after I get everything installed i will post back as to how they work out...

That is understandable. The Superlift springs are a little stiff, like if you go over a bump slow the independent front will do fine and hardly move you, but once you get to the back, and you come down - you just start bumping up and down for a bit. But I noticed if you went over the same bump, but faster, you hardly felt it as bad as going slow. It's weird, but it's cool. Yeah I'd like to see a picture of the springs too. See how thin they actually are. Hope everything works out.
