"I see the problem.....there's a nut on the steering wheel"

anybody have a clue ?

Id say call your ford dealer Monday morning a get the part number. Then you know for sure.

New Part Number !!

Id say call your ford dealer Monday morning a get the part number. Then you know for sure.

OK, called the dealership and got the part number its: F8OZ14K147AA

and it cost $553.26 from the dealership...I have seen it on eBay but the numbers don't match. where can I find this item cheaper. I tried the JY, but no luck there, anybody got any ideas ?

look in other fords in the junkyards,, i think explorers weren't the only ones used that shape,
aerostars , crown vics, f 150's mustangs,, check em all just take a cutout the shape you need put it on top of other models,, seer what ones work,, wiring is the same i'm sure,,

If you remove the first "K" (F8OZ14K147AA) it's a good part number. Strange thing is 2000 EB Explorer is nowhere to be found in the fitment guides. If it's not too much trouble to remove, part numbers are usually molded into the part.

My Bad, the problem is how to remove them, they look like they can be popped out, but the ford guy said to remove the airbag, I don't know what to do. and I have two trucks with the same setup. he also said they were in 1998 to 2001 models. my wife's 1999 Eddie Bauer has the same thing.

on the back of the steering wheel there are plastic plugs covering the bolts that hold the airbags in place
once the airbag is out there are screws holding the cruise buttons in place,,
you than take off the steering shaft covers to unplug the wiring,,

disconnect the battery for at least an hour before messing with the airbags as the capacitors that fire them hold power for a while,
and if you do something wrong and cause a spark the airbag could deploy,,
that would not be too good,,

Agree, check salvage yards first or anywhere besides those crazy dealer prices.
Corkey's instructions are better. Either way de-power the airbags and be safe.

Found a better deal, but $426 is still stupid expensive IMO.

Thank you, I see the directions here say to remove the switches, i don't have to remove the air bag, thats good.

Those switches look just like the ones in my '98 Lincoln Navigator, so there is another possible source.
