Am i right in thinking that's 17t rigid you qualify for, then you need the next level for artic or wagon and drag? They keep changing regs over here so new drivers need a test for 7.5t after pasing car test, while those with older licences have that as a gimme

well done mate good stuff, you will find it a little strange when you go out on your own,but relax and all will be good lol.

the class 2 will allow 17 tonne rigid but you also get to drive the 8 wheeler tippers and roll on roll offs (big top heavy skip wagons lol) now they really are exciting, had one upto 40 ton according to the dash weight checker lol) nearly had to change my pants when i finshed my trip and tipped it.
do they take the uk license in canada mate?

yeah they do take the licence, I learned in a volvo, it's dead easy to drive... I really liked it. once my licence comes back then I'm gonna put in for my class one so I can move over there and be with my girlfriend.. the distance thing is hard and this country really has nothing to offer.

Thanks for all te best wishes guys...

well done si,might see you on that program ice road truckers! dont blame you for going as there aint much here to offer anyone anymore ,its gone to the dogs just lately good luck with class 1 ,richard

god no! I'd be the slowest truck driver in the whole of Canada if I did that!

I'm just hopefully, gonna move in with my gf and live happily ever after!

i've had a class 1 for 20 years now mate, wait til your out on the road, on your own, doing the job :D, its a right bundle of laughs :p:
the words ' steep learning curve' spring to mind

you will overshoot pins, drop a trailer on its knee's(hopefuly it'll be an empty one),rip yer airlines off, and its all good fun :D:thumbsup:

you'll know when your a trucker, one morning you'll get up and you'll pi55 diesal :D:D:D

i think you should take me to canada with you, to ride shotgun, and help with the above and the many other 'interesting events' that you will encounter ;)

enjoy,
mick :salute:

oh yea, every time i climb up into my cab at silly o,clock in the morning,i just cant wait for the next adventure to begin:confused:

but i think this country is pretty hard on trucks every one hates them, you cant park ,and i seem to spend most of my time diverting around weight and height limits or sitting in jams lol,i bet its nicer in a country with room.

good luck with the plans simon, sounds like a dream come true mate,yr right not much to stay here for really, when you thinking of going, you will have to stay in touch and let us all know what we are missing.

We've just had 4x 40ft canvas siders arrive down here in Qatar after a 19 day drive from London, they've had a few good stories about the trip!

Ive had my class 1 for a few years and have driven as far as Turkey and North Africa as said above ripped lines dropping trailers on the knees, smashing in your unit lights are all to come for you lol Oh also 5th wheel grease will be the worse thing in the world to you soon.

However i hate to pee on your fire but you need a CDL to drive in Canada and your HGV will not be transferred! They will also require 2 years driving experience. I also looked into moving to Canada in fact i was 2 weeks away from leaving until i pulled out from the affair, mostly due to the bad experiences of others. Look here http://trucknetuk.com/phpBB2/ for more info.

That aside well done on passing and welcome to the club of crap parking and being treated like scum!
