...I love em.;)

For the past few weeks, I was debating putting in a set of yellow bulbs in my fogs. After a little research as to what I actually had for a bulb (9145). I began searching for a replacement. As some of you pointed out, a 9145 has a nearly identical base to a 9005. After checking the stats on a 9145 (42w) I found a suitable replacement.

The bulb I used is an APC part # 50.9005.G

It is a 65w 9005 bulb. The best part is it is a gold ion bulb. It give a great light pattern with the fogs and has a nice yellow color output. And best of all, I got both bulbs for under $30 shipped to my door.

All I had to do to make them fit was cut a small portion off 1 tab on the light itself. this took me about 30 seconds with a sharp knife.:p

The difference in light output alone is worth the money in new bulbs. But the yellow output is just 1 more thing I love about it.

Sweet... thanks for letting us know. Where did you order them from? Do you think the yellow light is better (and looks better) than maybe a bright white (silverstar?) to match Xenon look alike bulbs in the headlights?

I was really wanting the yellow light in the fogs. Yellow seems to work better in foggy situations. Plus it looks good.

I ordered the bulbs from a place online. I have the reciept in my truck, and will post it after. I have a few pics of my truck on my computer, including the new lights, but have no way of posting them. Looks like I might have to become "elite":D

I used Yellow bulbs untill one burned out the next day. Not due to being yellow just a bad bulb and bad luck I guess. So I just went to AutoZone and picked up yellow window tint and used it on the lenses. I get the same effect as the yellow bulb:

Damn, cant tell it is only a film.

Any problems with it peeling or discoloring?

How is the light pattern?

yea, black magic, it looks sweet, but only thing is i couldnt stand it if i added extra lights cause id have to make them yellow. although ive got 2 sets right now with yellow lenses and one set without

i like the yellow fogs but would much rather prefer blue. Does anyone know the legality of blue foglights? i just ordered a pair from hella lighting and i dont know if they are legal.

Blue lights are illegal on any vehicle. If, however, you are talking about the blue lights that look like the HID setup, it can be a different story. In my area, most cops wont waste there time busting you, but it is considered illegal unless the bulb has both DOT and SAE certification.

My buddy, who is a State Trooper, says he has gone so far as to have the operator of a vehicle pull the bulb on the spot to check it:eek: . BUT, he only does this on those "special" occasions when the driver is just an ass.:D

Basically, if your vehicle came with the HID setup from the factory, you are OK, anything else is questionable. And for the record, my new fogs have NEITHER DOT or SAE certs.:p

How do you know if the bulbs are DOT and/or SAE certified. the brand I bought is the "Hella Optilux 1150 Blue Ion Projector Fog Lights".
