look at these plugs,

just got roughly 6000 miles on them , i was wondering why the truck was skipping so bad and i done figured it was the plugs, since i broke 2 when i tried to install the new ones last time on the right side of the engine i used the two best looking of the old ones and i really never got time to replace those, but guess what, it's not those that are bad , it all the new Champion Truck plugs,,,,geez the old plug where those 1 buck ac-delco's they have held up longer then any i have had as of yet.

well now i'm goin to install some AC's rapid fires see if that does anygood.....

darn i'm ticked off about this, i'm gonna bring them back to autozone later today and ask them what kinda crappy plugs these things are....

obviously there's something really wrong with cylinder no #1 (if you stand infront of the motor it's the 1st on the right side)....unfortunatly my pressure gauge is broke so i'll have to buy a new one, i though can remeber that when i changed the plugs the one that was coming out of that cylinder was just as bad....

it wouldn't be logical if the valve guides would be worn , without the others being worn aswell i think , i'll have to filter my oil next time i drop it( wich is friday) to see if there's some metal in it of some kind, all i know at this moment is that something is causing the plugs in that particular cylinder to build up carbon really quick....

the code scanner doesn't come up with anything however so it's not electrical , it's an mechanic defect somewhere....maybe i should just sell the darn thing , if only the price of an sport trac would come down a bit....

well the problem is pinointed and i have an burned valve , does anyone know what it costs to get this fixed ?...i'm not counting labor since i'm pulling the heads myself, if it costs to much i might just wait till i have enough money to start the 302 swap...

Valves themselve are't too expensive. They run anywhere from $5 each up to about $20 each depending upon the quality of the valve. You're gonna need to get a machine shop to do a valve job for ya to make sure the new valve seats in the head properly. It's been a while since I had a valve job done, but I seem to remember about $150-200 for two V8 heads complete, so I would guess getting 1 cylinder done would be a lot cheaper. You might want to make sure you don't have any other valves or valve springs heading south while you've got it apart too.

well one of my buddies who works at an ford dealer ship told me it might aswell be an cracked piston, he says the 4.0 are more famous for cracking an piston then burning an valve.

well anyways it going to be an major undertaking so i think i will try to hold it off for now and just run on 5 instead of 6, and wait till i got all my info gathered (plus the money heh ) to start the 302 conversion....i'm getting pretty tired of that 4.0....
