Lately i have been hearing more and more creaking noises, and rattling... i wonder if its the bad roads. Ever since I got my new tires it seems my truck rides much harsher. I have Michelin All Seasons... They aren't over inflated, so thats not the problem. I don't know if i need new shocks, i would think that if I did i would probably bottom out on big pot holes and stuff. Anyone else feel there explorer rides "harsher" than before. I realize its a truck, it just seems to ride worse than it used to..... :(

You know, i get that feeling sometimes, but i realized it's all in the head (not saying that you're crazy ok...lol!). Sometimes when i'm driving down the same road, but in the middle of the night when it's quiet, the Explorer feels like a Mercedes Benz. Give the vehicle a good handwash, detail it inside out, and it'll be all good again.

You say you're tires are not over inflated, but I've found that the tire pressure is not so easy to figure out.

When I switched to Pirelli Scorp ATs, the tires were rated to 50 psi, and the truck is set up for 28 psi. It's taken be about a year to figure out how much pressure to run. At 35+ the tires got center wear. The ride was harsh, but the handling was pretty good. At 28 the tires were too soft and the handling got "mushy", but the ride was real smooth. Now I'm running about 32. So far they are wearing even and the ride and handling are just right. It still takes bumps a little bit hard, but I can handle that.

Seems that these bad boys are very sensitive to tire pressure. I check mine every couple of weeks to make sure I'm still at 32. It's helped a lot with handling, ride, and (I think) milage.

A little trial and error with pressure might help you out a lot.

hmm they are rated at 35 i think, i checked them and they are around 33 or so.. i mean i think it is the tires, because i just had them put on not to long ago..

Not saying it isn't the tires but if you still have the oem shocks it would help with some new ones.
Monroe Reflex would be my choice.

hmm I want to get new shocks. This topic however i am sooo confused about. I have heard all sorts of things about which ones to get. I heard the edlebrocks and billsteins are good, but they are expensive. I want to get the best I can for the money, and something that will give me a better ride..but im definatly looking into getting new shocks...

Diablo, you won't be sorry you spent so little money on Monroe Reflex shocks...i'm not! :)
