Well after I finally get the amp for my subs I think my stock amp took a dump on me. I turned the stereo up as much as it would go today and suddenly the regular stock speakers lost sound but the subs still were working. If I turn the radio off and then back on I'll get sound till I turn it up another couple notches then it loses sound again. Does it sound like my stock amp is shot?

Heloooooooooooooo anyone have any ideas or what the part number is to replace it?

just get an amp bypass harness....

The factory amp would be the place to start. They said mine would quit working, but I bypassed it first. You can do it w/o the harness if you wanted. :) A new one would prob. cost a lot, but I'm sure if you really wanted one someone here has one.

i have a stock one for a premium system in a 94

Question is will it work with a 95? Hey Mbrooks420 when yours was acting up was it doing the same thing mine was doing? And where might I be able to obtain a nice bypass harness from? Yeah a new stinkin' amp is costly I talked to my buddy at ford and his cost on a new one would be a 125 bucks.......I could put that to a better subwoofer amp!

I also forgot to mention earlier that my rear right speaker gives this whistling sound that goes with the rpms of the car but it's only that speaker. And I already tried switching it with 2 other stock speakers.

I think I am having the same problem. My factory sub stopped working so what little bass I had is now gone. I think the sub only powers that rear factory sub as the other speakers still sound ok. It don't think the sub is blown as it was fine one day and no sound the next. I could not find a fuse for this. If anyone else had this happen what did you do?

There is nothing wrong with mine. It's still in the truck, I never took sit out when I bypassed it. The whistling is prob. alternator whine. Maybe there is something wrong with that speakers wire, or it might be another problem with the amp.

Damn these fords sometimes!!!!

Do you have an aftermarket HU? If so I wouldn't go through the trouble of replacing it. If you bypass it the sound quality will improve. it will prob. be louder also.

Yep i already have an aftermarket radio.......it has a built in amp as a matter a fact. How the hell do I bypass it though?

This is a link to a thread I put up about my 1996. I think the 95 and 96 are the same. Dead Link Removed

if you have the same setup I had then you can have the one out of my 97 for the cost of shipping if you want it.

Kewl taxxman.....do you know what the part # is by any chance? And where is the stock amplifier located anyway? I did a little investigating this morning and it seems when I tugged a little on I think it was the speaker wires going to the radio I heard this static sound like something was grounding out on the speaker wires. I have yet to investigate, I'm probably gonna have a buddy look at it.

the stock amp in on the passenger side behind the plastic trim in the rear cargo area just over the wheel well. Mine is on a workbench in the garage. worked fine when I removed it. But you may just want to bypass it if you have an aftermaket HU. But if you decide you want it it is yours.

I have a retarded question.......now I'm getting I have the splice the wires together right at the amp right that's over the wheel well?

Yeah, if you want to bypass it. I think my HU sounds a whole lot better than the factory amp did. You would need to splice eight speaker wires together, and insulate or remove the power and remote wires. It's not that bad. With $3 in connectors and a set a crimpers it's hard to mess up.

Awsome, thanks a lot for your help! Now one more question, how do you take that panel off to access the amp?

There are a bunch of plastic clips that need pryed out. Be careful and you won't need replacements. And the seat belt thing needs removed with a torx bit. Then just kind of wiggle, pry and pull it off. Oh yeah there are a few screws down by the carpet.
