Im looking to invest more money than i should with my stereo.... Id like to see if i could keep it with one sub one amp if possible. I want crisp clean painful bass. Any recomendations on a awsome setup? Also i am not looking to spend tooooo much but i am willing to spend more than i should. I have no price in mind also i want something i will want to hold on to for a while and be 100% satisfied with. Thanks for any input.

in a perfect world, i'd be running these in my explorer:

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=520&i=2067C12VR4&tp=111
the above are pretty much teh same, just the resistance values are different, the top link is 2 ohms, the bottom is 4 ohms. not sure which is better, but someone else might be able to chime in.

and the amp:

puts out 750 watts max it says on the page, but i've seen where when bench tested, they'll put out almost 900 watts.

I like Kicker products, take a lot of abuse, and it'll give you what you want. Good crisp response, but the ability to crank it up.

we need more info, how much you want to spend, what size of sub your prefer, are you going to stay with stock electrical system.

As far as money i dont want to spend an astronomical amount but alot more than i should. I dont have a price in mind and thats how i want to keep it. That way once i know what i want i dont have to think about how much more it is than i wanted to spend......

As far as what size... Dont want a single ten... 12, 15, maybe a true 18. I dont want to add batteries, i will upgrade the battery and the alt. And ill add needed objects in between.

everyone is so up and down when FI is mentioned ive never heard them in person but people eathier lovem or they dont no inbetween.... Now the L7 ive always concidered......... and still am. But ive also heard that they are known to freeze up.

nother thing.... i found someone on craigslist that wants $200 for 2 12" L5's with a 1400 watt kole amp in a sealed box. Thats not the stereo im ending with but for the price is it a steal or just dont touch it?

If I didn't read what section this thread was in, I'd be confused/shocked on the subject title..
:D :D

Get it and put the sub in a ported box. Those can make your chest hurt if the box is propertly done.

I havent hear the Fi BL, but Q is one of the nicest subs i have install, and that will be my next sub.

My opinion on sealed or ported is one it depends on the sub, two ported is definatly louder and three...... I LOVE TO FEEL THE AIR BLOW!!!! Right now ive got two 12 inch xplods and beleive it or not it hurt my eyeball today.. But im looking for more. I figured the L5s would be worth buying then selling what i got then sell them and get what i want. (which im still tryin to decide)

i woudln't go any higher then a 12. when you start going 15 or 18 your recoil time slows down and the bass might sound sloppy.

YEEES!!! Someone who agrees with me! Some say its bs but maybe it all depends on the sub but in my experiance 12s were always tighter.

1 L5 can blow your sony's.

Still a false statement...totally sub, enclosure, and install dependent.

Saying that is an 18 inch sub is "slower" than a 10 inch sub is a myth.

Done correctly an 18 inch speaker will be just as fast/quick/transient as a 10 inch speaker.

My last setup of a single 18 ported was tighter and quicker than a lot of 12 inch setups I've heard.

Read up people...learn something.

Heard they are known to freeze up?? Thats call retards sending either too much power to the speaker or clipping the hell out of the signal.

The sub can can handle rated power without even breaking a sweat.

Power handling figures do not include clipping the signal.

Apparently the corners on the L7s tend to (lack of better word) Buckle. Thats what ive been told by quite a few people. Hence the corners being shot the corners get hung up some how. Then again just word from others
