On the center top vents in my first gen, to the left of the vent where the E-transfer case buttons would be, there is an unused slatted panel. Behind it is a wiring connector with (presumably) 12 volts and wires that may run to the general area of the transfer case. I'd like to use this power and these wires to install a transmission pan-mounted temperature sender and have the display in the panel. Has this been done? Attached is a quick sketch of what I was thinking of, with 6 LEDs for a quick glance and an LED number display. I don't mind buying something to tear it apart and reshape it.

I can build basic circuits but lack experience with ICs or microcontrollers. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks for the link, I got a Cyberdyne digital gauge installed in November.
