I wish I hadn't...

i really regret not taking a serious run at chad's SAS sport trac. i was really close, and i had just enough money to do it about a month after he sold it.

I was close on that one too. Even started talking location. But now mine is SAS'd so I can't complain too much.

things definitely DO happen for a reason, you got a taco, patrick got his trac SAS'd, and hopefully, i can start my 4WD conversion this year as well. its going to be an interesting year for my trac. i hope i can get this thing going in the next three months or so.

Did you figure out if you're going SAS or IFS 4wd?

LONO100 Hopefully none of that process ends up in this thread.:salute:

haha, hopefully! i have a little beater subie legacy i can drive around while my trac is having surgery.

rebel - i keep going back and forth, now im thinking going SAS might be ultimately easier if i go with the manual transfer case and cut a hole in my floor, but what i think its going to come down to is what i can find once im able to actually buy parts.

now that i have a little disposable income, i am really bummed chad sold his trac! life would have been so much easier, but oh well, its a blessing to have such first world problems.

Honestly for your expedition style trailin' I would go with a Dana 30, you have tons of Jeeps out there for parts. You can link it or use leafsprings. Links will allow you to keep it lower but still have a lot of droop for flex. There's a member doing a Dana 30 link setup right now in the offroad SAS section that's pretty cool, he's doing cheaper 30 mods that not many do. There's a lot of members out in Cali that would probably help you do the conversion if needed.

Let my aunt drive my truck. Now I'm paying 2400 for a tranny rebuild and lift install.

I wish I hadn't gotten a reman transmission. Instead I wish I had gotten the 5 speed manual and manual tease for a little more reliability and control.

hey rebel if you ever get to doing the manual case when you do your SAS, can you do a write up on it? im really interested to see the details of cutting the hole in the floor and linking it all up.

Lono I'll be doing a full drivetrain swap from my '89 F-250 that has a 351w/C6 and 1356manual transfer case so it'll be different than what you'll need for a How-to. This is a sweet setup another member did on his Ex.

The way things are going you might have your SAS done before mine, I'm taking my time because funds aren't available right now. I have to do the SAS before the drivetrain swap because I need to cut the cross member out to make room for the oil pan. Lets take this topic over to the lifted section.

I wish I hadn't bought a sub box that goes under the rear seat. I like to fold the seats down for my dog to ride back there, but now I've got to remove the box. On another note, anyone want to trade a behind-the-seat setup for a downfiring under the seat box? :)

rebel - for sure!

morgan - i had two 12"s in the back of my old suv, and it made me apprehensive when off road, and i lost a lot of cargo space. when i got my trac, i was sure i wasnt going to put subs in it for that reason.

I'm tempted to make a c.wells style enclosure for an 8" sub where the factory one was located, but I've never used fiberglass before so I'm a little apprehensive.
