I took off my IAC last night to clean it, been having some issues with the idling on cold starts now that it's winter, and there wasn't a gasket. Is there suppose to be one? I was looking at buying a new IAC and some of the install guides say to make sure to replace the gasket, didn't know if that was true for all years.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Yes, there is a gasket.

Thanks Warform,

Is there a separate part number for the gasket or does a new one come with the IAC?

There is no paper "gasket", there is a molded O ring that fits into machined grooves.

Just a heads up...

First Generation X's do have a paper gasket between the IAC and the intake plenum. (I had to make one when I ripped my original one when I cleaned the factory IAC)

I have no idea about the newer motors...

Mine doesn't have a gasket.

My 5.0 has a gasket in between them.

my ohv has a paper gasket not an o ring

Mine had a rubber gasket. Without a gasket you'll most likely have IAC problems.

my dad has a 98 ranger, did this 3.0l engine have a paper gasket or a rubber o ring? and where can you buy just the o ring?

They usually come with the new IAC from Ford, dunno if it's available separately.

But you can buy a sheet of gasket material (cut to fit) or assorted O-rings at most parts stores.

My 98 has no paper gasket. It is just metal to metal.

i have been looking into this, and from what my research stipulates is that all the iacs had a gasket, either in the form of paper, or a recessed o ring on a flange in the metal

when I took the old iac off it had no paper gasket but when I bought the new iac they offered the paper gasket...I took it and put it on.

No gasket on mine either. I don't think it had been touched before I replaced it. The new one didn't come with one, and I wasn't told I needed on either.

chances are that your intake manifold o rings are leaking and that is causing the prolblems

There is a gasket for the IAC. I just bought one for my 98 Sport. The P/N: 97JZ-9F670-AA and is cost 5.54$ The gaskets are two rubber rings.
