Looking for the place (non-dealer I hope) to get the right IAC Valve for my 97 5.0. I tried O'Reilly near me and they got me a Borg Warner replacement that looked exactly right EXCEPT that the plug was located in the 6 o'clock (down) position and won't fit without removing the throttle cable guard on the Mounty. The oem part has the plug exiting at 9 o'clock (viewed from the front) or away/opposite from the throttle cable. Anyone had this problem or found a parts store that has the correct plug placement?

ps O'Reilly went as far as to double check the part number and verify it against a 97 Explorer part (all correct and the same as the X) and then ordered several more to make sure they hadn't just gotten a goofed up one. All four had the plug in the 6 o'clock position, which won't physically fit (I tried) without modifying/removing the throttle cable guard. Not a huge deal to remove it, but it seems like I should be able to get the right part.

Thanks. Great idea. Just emailed them.

I'm still hopeful I can find it locally and install it this weekend, though, so if anyone else has experience with this, please chime in.

Glad I found this, because I just found the exact same problem, O'Reilly's computer is showing the WRONG part, it is Borg-Warner # 31019, I checked their website, it shows this part # when you look it up on the web, too........I will go to my local Ford dealer, Bob Tomes Ford in McKinney, tomorrow a.m., to get the correct part. They give me real good prices (I used to be a salesman there) but their hours are not as lengthy as O'Reilly's.....

I will post the price I pay at Ford tomorrow, I get pretty good prices from them, cheaper than what I can get from Torrie at Ford part network, although he is MUCH better than your average Ford part person...... (BT Ford in McKinney has an above-average part dept. staff)

Great. I'll be interested to hear how it works out. Tried NAPA parts in Grapevine as well and the part they had was the same part that O'Reilly had (except it cost $13 more), so I still haven't done anything even though I need to soon. Torrie quoted me for the part (although didn't check the plug position after a couple of requests and an explanation of the problem I was finding).

I got it this a.m. at Ford dealer, it was 39 or so....bout the same as O'Reilly's....I left the ticket out in my car, will post the part # later....

OK, the IAC valve that I got for my '96 Explorere V8 is the correct one, it is:

F67Z-9F715-BB_ valve_ 70.52 list, I bought for $39.49.

Thanks. Now, if I can just talk another ford dealer into selling for the same price.
