ideas on lack of heat??

I'm having some problems with not getting much heat from my X. I've had the coolant completely flushed, thermostat replaced. What are the most likely things to look at that cause this? It puts out some heat but not enough for my wife!

Do you know what the operating temp of your thermostat is?

are your heater hoses intact? or perhaps heater core is on it's death bed.

WOW thats kind of strange, I was just about to make a post with the same problem. My heater is working at half power. My heater core went two winters ago. Its not the same as that. When the heater core went, it just died, there was only COLD air. My X is putting out heat but not as much as it used to. My anti-freeze is fine. My hoses look good. My engine temp gauge hasnt worked since this summer. Could that have something to do with it? How do I fix that?

Is it luke warm feeling, or hot, but no air flow. I had to replace mine, luke warm feeling, it was plugged only allowing a small amount of water to pass thru. If the air you feel is hot, but not much coming out, probably blower motor, I replaced mine last year, and made a huge difference.

Pop your hood with the beast running. Feel your heater hoses, they should feel the same temp. If not your heater core is plugged.

Could be the heater control valve, but not sure if "93 had it. The heater hoses run into it, and it controls the flow into the core itself.

thanks for all the replies on this, i just had the blower motor replaced this summer to get the A/C working, so i suspect something with the heater core. the previous owner didn't maintain it as well as they should have, so this is suspect.

I just did the heater core in mine, if you have questions about install, I will try to help. This an easy job, now my heater will run you out of the ex Feels like a sauna.

Do you know what brand of thermostat was installed? A lot of posts on here said that the Ford Motorsport thermostats are not good.
I've only had the X for a couple months now, and 2 weeks ago I tried the heater for the first time. Plenty of AIR but the temp just did not seem hot enough. It got warm but not hot.
After doing a search on here, I decided to change out the thermostat. I pulled out the Motorcraft stat (which looked fine) and replaced it with a Robert Shaw 195* piece. Changed out the coolant, started the beast up and I could have cooked the Thanksgiving turkey in the seat! BIG difference. I also noticed that with the old thermostat the engine temp guage read pretty low. Now it reads right in the middle. Where does yours read? It would be nice if all you have is a bad thermostat (even though its fairly new). Good luck with it.

check the flow to and from the heater core my done the same thing this past winter and found out it was a clogged heater core. take of the hoses and run a water from a garden hose through both sides a if this is the case should fix the problem.
