Hi there.

Brandy new member, don't even have an Explorer yet, but looking.

May be checking out a '97 with a 5.0 and was wondering how to identify the VIN serial # for getting one with the GT-40P heads.

Another question is with 4WD, does anyone know if there's a fuel mileage advantage with going with a model that does not have AWD?

Any tips on what to look for and avoid while shopping for a '98, (or '97 with GT-40P heads)-'01 with a 5.0 would be appreciated. One thing that I'm aware is to looked for corroded brake/fuel lines.

Anyone selling one, basically stock, please pm.

Thanks.

there is a MPG advantage to 4WD vs AWD, but they never made a explorer V8 with 4WD, you can however mod in a 4WD transfer case

External EGR = GT40P
