I am having an issue with my 94 Explorer SE. When it is cold it idles just fine but as soon as it warms up there is a skip. Also have a coolent leak somewhere. Dont know if they are related or not. Goes through a gallon a week, but only a drop or two on ground after shut down. There is no water in oil nor is it coming out the exhaust. Praying its not a head gasket. Motor is a rebuilt Jasper 4.0.

lower intake gasket? how many miles are on the rebuilt motor? if youre loosing a gallon a week into the crankcase (headgasket) it would definately be noticable in the oil.

When your vehicleicle is cold it is in Open loop mode so certain sensors are bypassed. Being that you are losing coolant I'm willing to bet your Engine coolant temp sensor is out of whack. It basically tells your computer that the temp inside the intake manifold and the temp of the coolant are different, letting your computer know that your vehicle is warm. I'd start there. it should be located around the thermostat housing just above the H20 pump. good luck.
