Hey ya'll. I searched these threads for idler pulley and came away with some great starter information.
I pd $15.40 for the pulley at carquest with some reservation. I see what the talk in these threads was about how different it looks. No side wall and a bit smaller and light-weight.
I went to NAPA to see about replacing the bearing. They matched one to the carquest part @$10. So I sit here contemplating whether to smack the bearing inside my pulley or just put on the replacement pulley. NAPA said the bearing has to be aligned just so. I'm a bit nervous about my ability to do this. I like the idea of keeping the orig. pulley cos of the design.
Regarding install, there's a bolt on the engine from where the pulley used to be. So I remove that bolt and slide this pulley on and tighten it and that's it?? I dont have a torque wrench so I'll have to torque it manually. Is that a smart thing to do?
I dont want to complicate an uncomplicated repair so I ask for your input.
Mucho gracias amigos.
