Ignition Key Tumbler replacment

I want to replace the ignition key tumbler on my 1993 explorer. The Hayes book says to press a pin under the steering wheel. But, there is not one there, or an orfice of any kind.

Question is: do I need to pull the steering wheel to replace this?

I am beginning to think so. Please help.

Thank you very much for taking your time to help me. But, this lools nothing like my key cylinder on my 1993 Explorer.

mange, check the pictures in that thread I linked.
I think the picture in vroom's post is of a newer (2ndGen) cylinder.

Much appreciated. I have put the ignition cylinder on back burner until I solve fuel pump /PCM problem.

I will let the forum know how I make out. My desire is to just put a push button starter in the Explorer, like how we use to start the cars back in the day. lol

Key Cylinder replacement on first generation ford explorer

Upon getting my head screwed on straight, and looking and observing, I realize that it is not necessary to remove the steering wheel to replace the key cylinder. However, still can not find pin to depress.

Now that I have solved my fuel pump problem, I will try to connect a few neurons and figure out the key problem. Of course with the help from nice peeps here in this forum.
