I was looking for a new set of ignition wires and I found these nice set of 10mm blue wires from Davis Unified Ignition Livewires($99) on summit racing, they also recommend using their brand Screamin' Demon coil pack ($89) so I decided to give them a try.
And I'm sooooooo happy with my choice!!!:D
The truck runs much smoother and throttle response is a bit better!
Hey guys, this is not an illusion....this set really works!
Right after installing it I started the truck and a strange smell came out the exhaust...I said wtf!...well it was the smell of all the deposits in the cylinder chamber the worn stock ignition set couldn't burn.

To get good use of all its power, you must open your plug gaps up to a .065 in.
I used double platinum spark plugs.
I truly believe it's worth the money.

Do you have mpg updates for us?

Bump

improved idle

The late Al Franklin (aldive) reported an improvement in his idle after installing a Screamin' Demon coil pack and regapping the spark plugs according to their recommendation. I'm still using my original stock wires and coil pack with no longer available Champion Truck Plugs and have no problems from idle to engine speed limiter (6250 rpm) but plan to replace my wires in the future. How flexible are the wires? They look a little stiff at the coil pack but that may be due to the connector reinforcement.

I've read Al's review before. Just looking around for other results too. Thanks!

Hi Karpiel73, I didn't check MPG after changing wires and coil pack. My wife uses the truck in city, I'm planing a 4 hour road trip the end of this month, will calculate then.

2000streetrod, yes exactly as you say...they are a little stiff at the coil pack end, due to the connector reinforcement (what a clinic eye you have dude!). But wires itself are flexible.
It's just crowded at coil pack, a bit tricky to locate the wires end but no big deal. Just make sure the clips locks and you are good to go.
I love the color and the heat protection.
I can rate them...excellent quality!.

As I said before in my original posting, I believe they are worth the money, comparing to stock.
I feel smooth and better acc response with these wires + coilpack + re-gap double plat. sp plugs.
My previous setting was oem motorcraft wires (5 years old), oem coil pack (from 1998) double plat sp plugs (5 years old).
It was not running bad, just wanted an upgrade...and got it!

idle improvement

2000streetrod I forgot....idle is just the same as before in my case.
Truck was running fine before with oem ignition set up.
Now it's running better...but idle speed still the same...if you refer to idle RPMs.

We all know...the worst your ignition set up is, the most improvement you will feel after this swap...
Cheers!

That'd be great! Thanks.

That'd be great! Thanks.

Results showed 17.7 mpg on a trip loaded with camping stuff, 2 adults, 2 kids, 4 bikes on hitch mounted bike rack.

at 55....65 mph. We all know, MPG would be better if truck is not that loaded.

My truck, '98 xplo 4.0 SOCH 4x4 <---no more, I removed front diff and front cv axles. (you can check it on my post....http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=361632)
The transfer case still hanging there.

Thanks for the info! Odd though because I get 19-21 mpg driving up to West Virginia fully loaded.

Extra data; mine Xplo is a 4 door, auto transm, has 3.55 gears and.... mpg calculated by the factory silly fuel gauge and by me, not an official report from EPA! LOL

The gearing surely plays a factor. 3.73s in mine.
