No Ex at the mo
On thurs evening i was thinkin about the fact that the insurance on the ex is due soon and a thought crossed my mind, "when is the mot due??? think its August, no wait i had the spare engine in it last year so it might be june then, I'd better check". Got home after work and checked and low and behold it WAS DUE April 11th. OOPS
So up first thing friday morning to ring the mot station i usually use to see if they could fit her in before lunch. They could so over i go.
I was expecting a fail as i hadn't had time to check it over, ie handbrake, bulbs brakelines etc which would have been no biggie as my old saab is still on the road tho i rarely use it at the mo.

The sly old girl only went and passed :bounce::party::bounce:
No advisories but the guy said it looked like there may be a tiny leak on the rear diff. I think this may just be residue from when it did have a leak before i nipped up the bolts.
Oh nearly forgot, the emmissions were super low so i must have done something right on the engine rebuild.

So now just got to sort out the lpg kit
Regards
Jan

not that much of a muppet - it passed first time :D

out of interest what were your emissions results - maybe we should start tracking what they are when we get our tests?

Congrats on it passing first time!

emissions

Ok i was gonna post them up in my orig post but couldn't be bothered to put my shoes on to go to the car. Got them now so here we are;

Last years using the spare engine in brackets
Fast idle:
CO max 0.200 : 0.060 (0.070)
HC max 200 : 3 (11)
Lambda min 0.970, max 1.030 : 1.005 (1.009)

Natural idle:
CO max 0.300 : 0.011 (0.009) [last years was better, may be time to clean the iac and maf]

Jim, it'll be interesting to see how yours does decatted

My MOT is not due till November but as it happens I have never had CATs even though I thought I did!

Someone had cut out the cats and replaced them with crappy little silencers.

Anyway here are my results on LPG from last November

CO = 0.6% (Pass = 3.5%)
HC = 105ppm (pass = 1200ppm)

These are the only measurments on the readout, the rest just say pass

It looks like your tester previously didn't have access to the DOT data. Vehicles registered Aug '92 on have to conform to limits based on the values given by the manufacturers held on the database. However if your engine is not listed then he can use the older limits as above. As for the regs on having to have a CAT there are none, so long as the emissions limits can be met.
