Hi all, used to be registered here a long, long time ago when I had my '95 Explorer Sport. I eventually traded her in on the worst mistake I've ever made (a GM). The much newer GM has never been as good as the old Explorer was.
Anyways, I've had enough of its crap. I'm graduating in the Fall as an EE now, and am sick of its issues, and want another Explorer, probably an Sport Trac Adrenalin. Definitely a V8 (my father has a normal ST with the V8 and has had no problems at all).
The truck I'm looking at most heavily is an 08 ST Limited, but no nav. It appears to have SYNC (it's got the buttons for it). This gives me 2 options to get nav, either upgrade to a Nav/SYNC radio and try to make it work, or upgrade to a voice activated Pioneer or the like. I've done some research and found that it's a PITA to get the nav/sync upgrade working, and that the phone button is rendered useless afterwards. Is this in general accurate? If so, I'd likely just get a voice activated Pioneer and run a steering wheel interface (I'd be doing a pretty full stereo anyways so this is a nice option).
Other stupid questions. Where is the sub in it, behind the rear seat? I can probably work with that. It looks like the rear seat fold down lower, I'd keep this for the dog (he is the main backseat passenger).
Looking at a used one, though there's a few new ones that are a bit of a drive that I might be interested in as well. If I can get them to lower the price to well under invoice. Given gas prices going up and them being leftover 2010s, that might not be too bad to do.
