IMT Valve

Does anyone know how to check this valve? I found that the cable to it was off. I reattached it but it did not seem to do anything. After driving for awhile I checked it and the cable was off again. It sits behind the IAC. My Haynes manual shows some pictures of it but there is no detail about what it does or how to check it. No codes while it was off or when it was attached. I search the forums and the internet w/o success. I have a 97 Explorer 4.0 w auto.

MY IMT Problem

While continuing my research into this I found it is part of the VIS-Variable Induction System. Did a search on vis and found a thread started by IZwack back in 5/05 who had the same issue. Still reading posts and believe it will work out with a new c-clip to hold the cable in place.
