In a Dilemma, please help

Ok, this summer we are going to be getting a 1997 Ford Explorer 4x4 Eddie Bauer. 5.0 V8. At the moment I have a 1992 X eddie 4x4. Should I start spending money on my first gen. because I heart my car soo much. or should I go right to the 1997, because I do plan to eventually get around to the 1997, I just don't have any money right now. Thanks for input.

I would fix up the first gen because it is cheaper than fixin up the 2nd gen. The first gen has more and bigger lifts available for it and you will more than likely want to beat the older one than a newer one. Although I love the look of a jacked up 2nd gen I would go with the 92.
